DIY Ornament Wreath

I got invited to a pinterest party last week and we made the cutest ornament wreaths! The host picked up all the supplies, had delicious drinks and snacks and even an adorable nail polish to take home. We didn't really follow specific instructions on how to make this wreath, we just figured it out and helped one another. You basically start with a foam wreath, remove the hanger type piece from the ornament and sort of dig the ornament top piece into the foam. Then you take hot glue and put it at that location on the wreath and apply the ornament and hold until the glue dries. It gets harder the fuller the wreath gets but you want to have your colors and textures evenly spaced, your ornaments positioned at different angles, and you want to create different layers using different sized ornaments. It was really fun because we had such a variety of ornaments to choose from and everyone created something different. We all agreed that they all looked amazing! It takes some time but it’s really easy to do!

Here are some more photos of my wreath when I was at home.

Gold Glitter Deer Artwork

SONY DSC

I have seen several images floating around Pinterest showing gold deer or reindeer art and really wanted to make it. I already had a canvas, craft glue, a pencil, a paintbrush and cardstock. I stopped by Michaels and picked up some gold glitter and got to work. I found a deer image by Googling deer silhouette, then printed it out on some cardstock. I cut out the deer image and lightly traced it onto my canvas. I then used some “glitter glue” that came with a set I had to cover the entire area of the deer. Unfortunately there wasn’t quite enough, I should have added more craft glue but instead I applied the glitter. I was sadly disappointed when awhile later I took the glitter off and I had all these empty spots. My biggest suggestion is to thoroughly cover the area with an even coat of glue. I continued adding glue to the empty spots and applying more glitter. I had to go through this several times and then my lovely boyfriend decided he wanted to help and add eyes and a mouth to it. Really?! This just caused nice clumps on it. Finally I applied a thorough and even coat of glue to the entire thing and coated it with glitter. I let the glitter sit in place for awhile to really get adhered. When I finally shook the glitter off I had my complete gold glitter deer art work. It turned out to take way longer than it should have but I love the result!

I think this project would be pretty cute to do with any silhouette. If you wanted to create a holiday one you could do an ornament, tree, snowflakes, gifts, a bow, etc. Have fun crafting and glittering!

PS Glitter has been banned from the house now after this project!

DIY pen and pencil holder

I have a super quick and easy DIY for you guys! I have to thank Michaela from Michaela Noelle Designs for the inspiration! She has the cutest DIYs, designs and photography! First find a mason jar or an empty and clean glass jar, I used an old alfredo sauce jar. Then purchase some washi tape or glitter tape at the craft store. I found this kind for 99 cents each at Michaels before Christmas!

First I tried applying the glitter tape just to the top. Then I decided it needed a little something else so I added another strip down towards the bottom. The tape was very sticky and I didn’t have any problems with it staying on the glass.

Very quick, easy and cute! You could also use it for your makeup brushes!
