This year for Christmas I decided to make my own cards, gift tags and bags. Handmade things are always better. The best part about this is how inexpensive it was!
Holiday Card
First I picked up some inexpensive items at Michaels.
- pack of 8 premade cards and envelopes for $1
-some glitter $1
-ribbon $1.50
Then I gathered items I had at my house.
-Christmas stamps
-stamp pad
-glue pen
-scissors
-scrapbooking adhesive
1. Stamp the card in desired configuration
2. Apply glue where you want the glitter to stick
3. Sprinkle on glitter
4. Glue ribbon down and tie in a bow
The end result....
Gift bags and tags
The only thing I had to purchase for this were the plain gift bags ($5.99 for 13 at Michaels) and the ribbon.
Items gathered from my house: Green cardstock, gold dots, hole punch, stamp, stamp pad, and oval cutting system.
1. Using the oval cutting system and carstock cut an oval in whatever size you think works.
2. Stamp the oval.
3. Apply embellishments.
4. Hole punch your oval.
5. Thread ribbon through hole and attach to gift bag, tying in a bow if you like.
Now you have great personalized cards and gift bags for all the wonderful gifts you will be giving this season.
Get creative and play around with other ideas to personalize your gifts! Remember, this works for any holiday (or birthday) not just Christmas!

Photo Collage
I have always loved photos. I enjoy photos of nature, friends and family, and anything interesting! I recently have been looking at how to display many photos together while looking balanced, ie a photo collage or gallery wall. Here Marissa from Roost explains how to configure a perfect layout for your photo wall. The simplified version:
Lay all photo frames out on floor.
Flip frames over and examine hanger location.
Lay wax paper on top of frames and trace the outline and mark where the hanger is.
Use masking tape, a level and a tape measure to place the wax paper on the wall exactly where you want it.
Through the wax paper hammer in your nail exactly where you marked the hanger.
Tear down the wax paper and hang your frames. Voila your finished!
Thanks Marissa for inspiring me to begin looking for fun frames so I can build my own photo wall!

New pieces to add to my collection
At the present time I am stuck living at home with my parents until I can afford an apartment of my own. Although I lived on my own in college I didn't have a real sense of my personal style and just picked up things (and was given things) that worked okay for the time being. Working at a very nice furniture store, I have been given the opportunity to purchase things at a HUGE discount. Now, I will not always be at the furniture store so I need to take advantage of this while I can. I've had my eye on one sofa in particular for a while now but haven't quite gotten up the nerve to drop the cash on it, especially since I will still be storing it in the warehouse. I did however decide to purchase a few pieces from Gus Modern, one of my favorite lines we carry. I selected the drake table in zebrano,
Two pawn stools in zebrano,
and this great clear acrylic wine rack!
Buying these pieces just makes me want to move out so badly!

Creative Uses Of Wood
Nature is a great source of inspiration, I love looking at patterns, colors and details in nature and thinking of how I can use that in a project. I really enjoy pieces that incorporate nature. I came across this great site, Brent Comber Originals and discovered some very creative uses of wood that look just great!

Small Space Savers-table edition
With so many people moving into condos or apartments in the city, people are having to learn to consolidate their belongings. Some have given up and simply restarted with all new furniture. These space saving tables are all available from the innovative company called Calligaris. Beautiful Italian design incorporating functionality equals one great piece of furniture.
