Here is how I made mine.</p> <p>First you want to take your burlap and wrap it over the canvas to determine how much burlap you need. I used two layers of burlap so you couldn’t see the white canvas. You could paint the canvas a complimentary color and then use one layer of burlap so the color shows through if you like.Then use a rotary cutter and a straight edge to smoothly cut your burlap to size. If you don’t have those items you can use scissors but I strongly recommend them as it makes it a lot easier to cut the burlap or any fabric. Then you are going to wrap the burlap around the canvas and begin hot gluing the edges down while holding the burlap tight so it lays flat. Try to keep it so the weave in the burlap is straight on the canvas. If it is crooked it makes you think the letter is crooked and will drive you crazy. </p> <p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-KyJprB71dHY/VC92eoe_RXI/AAAAAAAAB5s/uBc41BJ-yYE/s1600-h/edit-5160%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img title="edit-5160" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="edit-5160" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-s4wdcU2v9TM/VC92fPnVuDI/AAAAAAAAB50/EwCRYdzwsnk/edit-5160_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="592" height="396"></a><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-sNBjMopYNDI/VC92fsIuEwI/AAAAAAAAB58/jh8qNYI4TlM/s1600-h/edit-5173%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img title="edit-5173" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="edit-5173" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-SbGLaNcIdRQ/VC92gNe-n3I/AAAAAAAAB6I/CZVfZjMu-3M/edit-5173_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="592" height="396"></a><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-KWO_ith3gFo/VC92g2S6BaI/AAAAAAAAB6M/dggYng3ZiQA/s1600-h/edit-5181%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img title="edit-5181" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="edit-5181" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-4YUJZrD8Zjs/VC92hdvrPNI/AAAAAAAAB6U/1ey-ty_wuYk/edit-5181_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="592" height="396"></a></p> <p>Next take your buttons of varying size and color and lay them out in the desired letter or pattern. It takes awhile to play with them to figure out what looks best so take your time. For letters think of the type of font you want to replicate. Once you have it laid out, begin hot gluing each button down. Then you are done! </p> <p> </p> <p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-y_gGfgB-DY8/VC92h2j-h9I/AAAAAAAAB6g/_0RDvsoZhH0/s1600-h/edit-5214%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img title="edit-5214" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="edit-5214" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-ziEWTHav3GY/VC92iVUu-BI/AAAAAAAAB6k/tLT2plIAw5A/edit-5214_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="592" height="396"></a><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-47AI3u0eSU0/VC92i4gJOtI/AAAAAAAAB6w/7TgyjMiUOR4/s1600-h/edit-5263%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img title="edit-5263" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="edit-5263" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-Jq288NzTSOg/VC92j06gvZI/AAAAAAAAB64/UACRPCjU6FQ/edit-5263_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="592" height="396"></a><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-2Ufxv1ikWQw/VC92kdo5mJI/AAAAAAAAB7A/Zh0tA5h9IVg/s1600-h/edit-5264%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img title="edit-5264" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="edit-5264" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-HPbMYGbVZkA/VC92kylfsQI/AAAAAAAAB7E/-z4O5e3yWaE/edit-5264_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="592" height="396"></a></p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-KYZfOXkwxZE/VC92lWYfl5I/AAAAAAAAB7M/dBy3Ajv-qzo/s1600-h/edit-5272%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img title="edit-5272" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="edit-5272" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-K5uFcnEY9Jk/VC92l8MkZ3I/AAAAAAAAB7U/O10I-sY8zrc/edit-5272_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="592" height="396"></a><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-p49rgVMCz9Y/VC92melzI-I/AAAAAAAAB7c/zqvO_xnZ04Q/s1600-h/edit-5288%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img title="edit-5288" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="edit-5288" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-sSBd4ACtbPs/VC92m6kcRVI/AAAAAAAAB7k/FDZSLPNhCjc/edit-5288_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="592" height="886"></a><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-9T-P6PeLyWQ/VC92nH6ANrI/AAAAAAAAB7s/qQQpB5Jrh5M/s1600-h/edit-5298%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img title="edit-5298" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="edit-5298" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-jNI9Zsc6Z0U/VC92niUCrFI/AAAAAAAAB70/nnOgE-ZJRFc/edit-5298_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="592" height="396"></a></p> <p> </p> <p>Tips:</p> <p>*Use a hair dryer to blow off the left over hot glue cobwebs</p> <p>*make sure you have plenty of glue sticks, it takes quite a bit of glue to get the burlap on</p> <p>*Use a cool hot glue gun (or just be careful) as your fingers are pretty close when you are holding the buttons</p> <p>*Use common sense and keep this artwork away from young babies and children as the buttons are a choking hazard </p> <p>*Use both sides of the buttons to create variations</p> <p>*Use clear ruler/straight edge to make sure the letter is spaced appropriately on your canvas</p> <p>*Make sure you cut your burlap so there is enough room to wrap it around the edges. As I was hot gluing mine I also realized a staple gun would have made this pretty quick and easy to attach to the canvas. </p> <p>Please share your canvas art pics! I would love to see what you make!</p> Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00542929381587699756noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8952104035867119092.post-87854343011842413132014-10-01T23:18:00.001-07:002014-10-01T23:18:08.465-07:00Summer, where have you gone?<p> </p> <p> </p> <p>It’s October 1st and I think fall has officially arrived. The leaves are changing and the air is crisp in the morning and evenings. I set out to work this morning in capri’s and sandals and quickly realized it’s time to take these out of my wardrobe as it is just too chilly. I had the most amazing summer playing in the sun and I am just not ready for it to end! I never am ready for fall and winter to come but this year I am really bummed. All summer we spent on the boat with friends and family visiting beautiful places (when I wasn’t working). I am truly lucky to have spent it doing such fun things with the ones I love. What in the world are we going to do all winter? </p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-6c00SszZAEQ/VCzuDWkEikI/AAAAAAAAB18/N3bXvztAOaQ/s1600-h/PicMonkey%252520Collage%25255B3%25255D.jpg"><img title="PicMonkey Collage" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="PicMonkey Collage" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-lX6KqdtpqmQ/VCzuEFMArTI/AAAAAAAAB2A/7_ryBPOu4tQ/PicMonkey%252520Collage_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="592" height="222"></a></p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-qAk8GWwQogM/VCzuEubNBrI/AAAAAAAAB2M/DvsxOeyHj58/s1600-h/PicMonkey%252520Collage%25255B8%25255D.jpg"><img title="PicMonkey Collage" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="PicMonkey Collage" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-GfcUeigRbmI/VCzuFEdituI/AAAAAAAAB2U/qaJgYDoHOb4/PicMonkey%252520Collage_thumb%25255B5%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="592" height="222"></a></p> <p>That’s just a few of my many photos of fun on the boat!</p> <p> </p> <p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-5C5rAM5PI3A/VCzuFyKlQiI/AAAAAAAAB2c/SqJ4jg0uiz0/s1600-h/edit-07983-2%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img title="SONY DSC" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="SONY DSC" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-boqGs-L2S7Y/VCzuGfOcMBI/AAAAAAAAB2g/IqU2lYrHhH0/edit-07983-2_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="592" height="398"></a></p> <p>I took this photo last fall before I could have even dreamed of having a boat. Come summer time and the MR has bought a boat and we were on this water!</p> <p> </p> <p>Luckily for me I am getting a much deserved break from work and headed on a Caribbean cruise! Ah to be basking in the warm sun and taking a dip in warm water. I just can’t wait! The best thing about a cruise? No phone or email access! Here is a photo from my last cruise 5 years ago! I can’t believe it has been that long since I have cruised!</p> <p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-9rra9oXEEBo/VCzuGyVr7eI/AAAAAAAAB2o/4ClmUtZLqF8/s1600-h/cruise%25255B3%25255D.jpg"><img title="cruise" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="cruise" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-AryFhNHhV_g/VCzuHtXJeoI/AAAAAAAAB20/IxG2vphYjcM/cruise_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="592" height="445"></a></p> <p> </p> <p>Be optimistic and enjoy all seasons of the year! There is a <a href="https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/lix3d/lix-the-smallest-3d-printing-pen-in-the-world" target="_blank">kickstarter</a> fund going on right now for a 3D printing pen. It was hard for me to imagine how that actually worked until I watched the video. It is pretty cool! You insert plastic filaments and it heats up and works somewhat like a hot glue gun, but dries quickly. Surprisingly, this pen is pretty affordable! I’m not sure what the final sell price will be but on kickstarter, you could purchase the first version of the pen for $70 and the refills will be around $10 for 10 inserts. For more info check out their <a href="http://lixpen.com/" target="_blank">website</a>. </p> <p> </p><iframe height="281" src="//player.vimeo.com/video/89303153?color=df5a49" frameborder="0" width="500" allowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen webkitallowfullscreen></iframe> <p><a href="http://vimeo.com/89303153">LIX THE SMALLEST 3D PRINTING PEN</a> from <a href="http://vimeo.com/akkromedia">LIX 3D PEN</a> on <a href="https://vimeo.com">Vimeo</a>.</p> Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00542929381587699756noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8952104035867119092.post-690632649915764212014-05-02T18:00:00.000-07:002014-05-02T18:00:01.067-07:00DIY Garbage Disposal Fresheners<p> </p> <p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-cOu-PBTeUvo/U1yu_GJMpFI/AAAAAAAABxY/AXADbbyj0_A/s1600-h/edit-5388%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img title="Peterson's Perspective: DIY Garbage Disposal Fresheners" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="Peterson's Perspective: DIY Garbage Disposal Fresheners" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-_h7h8pBZMs0/U1yu_nPHcLI/AAAAAAAABxc/ygefZAU10Bc/edit-5388_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="592" height="396"></a></p> <p>I have been using the <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Plink-Garbage-Disposal-Cleaner-Deodorizer/dp/B005O1UZVY" target="_blank">plink</a> garbage disposal cleaner but what’s better than something cheaper and better for the environment? So I found a great link telling me how to create these garbage disposal cleaners from <a href="http://www.savvysugar.com/Homemade-Garbage-Disposal-Refreshers-27889472" target="_blank">Savvy Sugar</a>. The only ingredients you need is:</p> <p> </p> <ul> <li>3/4 cup baking soda <li>1/2 cup salt <li>1/2 teaspoon liquid dish soap <li>1 lemon</li></ul> <p>1. Mix together the baking soda and salt.</p> <p>2. Add the dish soap, stirring it in.</p> <p>3. Grate the lemon peel and stir into mixture.</p> <p>4. Squeeze and mix approximately 3 tablespoons of lemon juice.</p> <p>5. Scoop the mixture into a teaspoon and put onto parchment paper. Keep doing this until you have ran out of the mixture. Allow to dry overnight. The teaspoon was not working very well, so I rolled the mixture into balls.</p> <p>6. Put the refreshers in a tightly sealed jar or container. </p> <p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-qFyDoCwKU_k/U1yvAOkCMeI/AAAAAAAABxo/mT9k4qaxRe4/s1600-h/edit-5384%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img title="Peterson's Perspective: DIY Garbage Disposal Fresheners" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="Peterson's Perspective: DIY Garbage Disposal Fresheners" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-bbz-GrBGu4g/U1yvAgDsyZI/AAAAAAAABxs/KctpN8X-M6U/edit-5384_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="592" height="396"></a></p> <p>To use: When your sink is smelling funky or you think its time to give it a refresh, run your disposal with water for about a minute, then add the refresher and let the ingredients work its magic!</p> Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00542929381587699756noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8952104035867119092.post-88090962692855736392014-04-26T15:45:00.000-07:002014-04-26T15:51:24.396-07:00April Showers Bring May Flowers<p> </p> <p>The weather in Portland has been quite bipolar as of late. I always remember the phrase April showers bring May flowers and long for the sunny weather. Last spring I visited a beautiful place, the <a href="https://www.woodenshoe.com/tulip-fest/" target="_blank">Wooden Shoe Tulip Fest</a>. If you have never been I highly suggest it. I enjoyed taking many photos of the different varieties of Tulips and wanted to share just a few. There were also some cool old steam engines!</p> <p> </p> <p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-_VafgjF1kiM/U1w4QWIzh5I/AAAAAAAABug/qFKL-kEYoQ8/s1600-h/edit-06184%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img title="Peterson's Persepective: April Showers Bring May Flowers" style="border-top: 0px; The house has been a mess lately! I did get a lot of inspiration from the recent posts by <a href="http://iheartorganizing.blogspot.com/search/label/Monthly%20Clean%20Home%20Challenge" target="_blank">I heart Organizing</a> and her clean home challenge. All month Jen has been posting cleaning tasks in the goal of having a cleaner more organized home in less time. I love that her cleaning methods are green. I have personally found that the common toxic formulas like 409 and Windex really bother me. I have started using Seventh Generation disinfecting multi purpose spray and I also use the method glass cleaner. I am in the process of purging most of my other cleaning items. I love that Jen uses just a few basic things to create her cleaners, makes everything simple! </p> <p>These were some of my favorite posts Jen put up: <a href="http://iheartorganizing.blogspot.com/2014/03/monthly-clean-home-challenge-set.html" target="_blank">Make your own natural cleaners,</a> <a href="http://iheartorganizing.blogspot.com/2014/03/monthly-clean-home-challenge-clean-oven.html" target="_blank">cleaning oven,</a> <a href="http://iheartorganizing.blogspot.com/2014/03/monthly-clean-home-challenge-wash.html" target="_blank">cleaning windows with DIY spray,</a> <a href="http://iheartorganizing.blogspot.com/2014/03/monthly-clean-home-challenge-vacuum.html" target="_blank">vacuum mattress,</a> <a href="http://iheartorganizing.blogspot.com/2014/03/monthly-clean-home-challenge-wipe-down.html" target="_blank">and wipe down trims and doors</a>. I made the super easy baking soda and essential oil mix for sprinkling on your mattress and vacuuming up and it smells so good! I have been using baking soda and vinegar for awhile as they are great multi purpose cleaning products that are cheap and natural! I have loved the results. Here you can see the <a href="http://www.vinegartips.com/scripts/pageViewSec.asp?id=7" target="_blank">many uses of vinegar</a> and <a href="http://www.armandhammer.com/solutions.aspx" target="_blank">baking soda uses.</a></p> <p> <a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-7XJlC-r9UMg/Uzo6UotVy7I/AAAAAAAABr4/bAVb72QCJDQ/s1600-h/edit-6349%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img title="edit-6349" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="edit-6349" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-IbB0WePYyCk/Uzo6VHD5yUI/AAAAAAAABsA/DHKH_YSkO7o/edit-6349_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="345" height="531"></a></p> <p> Here are some of my environmentally friendly cleaning products</p> <p>Of course I checked some things off my weekly cleaning checklist but I also did some other things. I cleaned out my toaster oven which was really dirty! I could not get the stuck on gunk off the inside of the glass, until I did a google search and found to make a paste using baking soda and water, apply it and let it sit for a bit and wipe it off. It worked like magic! Sorry I don’t remember the specific link or I would share it.I attempted to get the toaster oven pan clean as well as the stove pans clean, but just could not get all the gunk off. Any tips?</p> <p>I was disgusted when I saw all the crumbs, sprinkles, macaroni etc. hiding under the toaster oven and microwave! Eww. I took everything off the counter and gave it a deep clean. This area often gets neglected but it is a great hiding place for crumbs. I also took this opportunity to rearrange the counters a bit. I actually have a decent size kitchen for an apartment, but of course I still don’t have enough room for all my things!</p> <p>Check out an old post I have for <a href="http://kristenjpeterson.blogspot.com/2012/04/deep-cleaning.html" target="_blank">deep cleaning</a>, showing how to clean the microwave, dish washer, washing machine and sink disposal. I try hard to be a better cleaner and have come along ways from my college days! I’m still learning! What are your favorite cleaning methods?</p> Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00542929381587699756noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8952104035867119092.post-42343950509895051782014-03-09T22:51:00.001-07:002014-03-09T22:51:09.303-07:00Swoon worthy closets<p> </p> <p>As spring is just around the corner, it’s time for many of us to switch out our wardrobes for the lighter and brighter pieces. I have found that every closet is different and you have to figure out what works for you. You will notice many of the beautiful closets you see show a few shirts and a few pants hanging in the closet, but that isn’t reality. Most people have many more clothing items then that, so find what works for you and for your closet. I would love to hear your stories and photos on what you do to keep your closet organized. </p> Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00542929381587699756noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8952104035867119092.post-17220466328267960062014-02-09T15:00:00.000-08:002014-02-09T15:00:00.603-08:00Recipe Review: Breakfast Bacon Egg Cups<p> </p> <p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-3_9WH6EwQ_s/Uvfxg47QMlI/AAAAAAAABp8/0SvsKMI9dKM/s1600-h/edit-5402%25255B6%25255D.jpg"><img title="edit-5402" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="edit-5402" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-Q4cWxwRh-kc/UvfxhSoS1QI/AAAAAAAABqE/LF8fLZtsQSk/edit-5402_thumb%25255B3%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="578" height="413"></a></p> <p>After seeing these yummy egg cups on pinterest I had to try them! They are super easy to make.</p> <p> </p> <p>Ingredients:</p> <p>Eggs</p> <p>Spices and seasonings (I used seasoned pepper and garlic salt)</p> <p>Bacon</p> <p>Shredded Cheese</p> <p>A muffin tin (not that this is an ingredient!)</p> <p> </p> <p>1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.</p> <p>2. In your muffin/cupcake tin wrap the bacon around the circular edge </p> <p>3. Wisk together 1 egg for each tin and add your seasoning. I added a splash of almond milk but I think this might have made it too runny there it got messy in the tin.</p> <p>4. Pour the egg mixture into the bacon wrapped tin</p> <p>5. Top with shredded cheese</p> <p>6. Repeat in each tin for the number you want to make. The nice thing about this is you can make 2 or 3 for yourself or a whole tin for a larger group.</p> <p>7. Bake for 30-35 minutes</p> <p>8. Let cool and pop the bacon egg muffins out and onto your plate.</p> <p>9. Enjoy!</p> <p> </p> <a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-1W3ZplaK6sc/UvfxiL6pXwI/AAAAAAAABqM/WUlNUC61wPM/s1600-h/edit-5400%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img title="edit-5400" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="edit-5400" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-2svv4hfgnnQ/Uvfxi-NYQCI/AAAAAAAABqQ/yDL9HdzjurA/edit-5400_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="583" height="409"></a> Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00542929381587699756noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8952104035867119092.post-80785850465545126472014-02-07T12:30:00.001-08:002014-02-07T12:30:45.425-08:00Color Series: Pink<p> </p> <p>In the spirit of Valentines day we must celebrate pink and red! I already posted some fun spaces done with red. In case you missed it, check it out <a href="http://kristenjpeterson.blogspot.com/2013/12/color-series-red.html">here</a>. I have always loved pink but in order to successfully use it in spaces, you must use it sparingly or be okay with a super girly room. In other words I don’t know if your husband will be thrilled with a super pink living room. </p> <p> </p> <p><img src="http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/29/8d/a3/298da3d1e51611faebcba38b5e4b89a4.jpg" width="579" height="869"></p> <p><a href="http://www.caitlinwilsontextiles.com/">Caitlin Wilson- love her!</a> </p> <p> </p> <p><img src="http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/12/0d/50/120d50e5272b1bcc8bbbc2c1b91930f4.jpg" width="586" height="754"></p> <p><a href="http://blossomsandbliss.tumblr.com/page/2">Blossoms and Bliss</a></p> <p> </p> <p><img alt="polkadotroom" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-F3CxpKt2FOQ/Udo2o8bWeDI/AAAAAAAAQ58/G4w4UNjWtz0/polkadotroom%25255B3%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="594" height="399"></p> <p><a href="http://www.athoughtfulplaceblog.com/2013/07/diy-gold-polka-dots-using-decals.html">A Thoughtful Place</a></p> <p> </p> <p><img alt="Ava main.jpg" src="http://i-cdn.apartmenttherapy.com/uimages/ohdeedoh/Ava%20main.jpg" width="595" height="741"></p> <p><a href="http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/avas-bohemian-bedroom-kids-roo-147107">Apartment Therapy</a></p> <p> </p> <p><img src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-MfMVqY_Xwl4/UKPCiNKptcI/AAAAAAAAUk0/f3NWMlq0-V8/s1600/HOME-OFFICE_FEMININE-HOME-DECOR_INTERIOR-DESIGN_BELLE-MAISON-BLOG.jpg" width="388" height="513"></p> <p><a href="http://www.houzz.com/photos/1834947/Tobi-Fairley-Interior-eclectic-living-room-new-york">Houzz</a></p> <p> </p> <p><img src="http://25.media.tumblr.com/c8a5802d426cfdc55f703a05ff3657fa/tumblr_mq7mf42KzB1qjxia2o1_1280.jpg" width="602" height="799"></p> <p><a href="http://theaestate.tumblr.com/post/55936138603">The Aestate</a></p> <p> </p> <p><img alt="pink-carerra4" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5193/6923467446_c11de96e28_o.jpg"></p> <p><a href="http://www.thisisglamorous.com/2012/04/decor-inspiration-two-lovely-things.html">This is Glamorous</a></p> <p> </p> <p><img alt="boudoir-HIGH.jpg" src="http://www.styleathome.com/img/photos/biz/Style%20at%20Home/boudoir-HIGH.jpg" width="600" height="752"></p> <p><a href="http://www.styleathome.com/decorating-and-design/high-low/high-low-stylish-boudoir/a/34048">Style at Home</a></p> <p> </p> <p><img alt="Three-Way Mirrors" src="http://images.meredith.com/content/dam/bhg/Images/2010/11/101496275.jpg.rendition.largest.jpg" width="596" height="791"></p> <p><a href="http://www.bhg.com/decorating/paint/projects/paint-projects-ideas-and-patterns/#page=12">Better Homes and Garden</a></p> <p> </p> <p><img src="http://www.designsponge.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/1caitlinwilson.jpg" width="601" height="895"></p> <p><a href="http://www.designsponge.com/2012/10/sneak-peek-caitlin-wilson-textiles.html/1caitlinwilson">Design Sponge</a></p> <p> </p> <p><img src="http://media1.onsugar.com/files/2012/06/26/3/192/1922794/ebeeadbb849d37c9_Screen_shot_2012-06-27_at_6.39.20_PM.preview.png" width="600" height="407"></p> <p><a href="http://www.casasugar.com/Feminine-Office-Spaces-23753373?spi_source=popsugar.com&spi_campaign=digest_email_2012-06-28&spi_medium=email">Casa Sugar</a></p> <p> </p> <p><img alt="Pink and White Bathroom. I know
I need to do it more often and that it makes me feel better, but I have the
worst self control. My lazy butt always says ugh I don’t feel like it, I’ll work
out tomorrow. Clearly that gets me no where. The last few weeks I have been
trying to get in a schedule of working out and I am absolutely loving the
workouts from <a href="file:///C:/Users/Kristen/AppData/Local/Temp/WindowsLiveWriter1286139640/4E98389072D0/toneitup.com">Tone it up</a>. There are lots of free
videos on their website and on Youtube. Currently they are doing the love your
body series until Valentines day. The toning videos are tough but they really
work and are pretty short so you can’t make up the excuse you don’t have time.
You also should be running or doing some sort of cardio, which I have not been
doing. I have a great running trail right by my house but it’s dark before I go
to work and after I come home, so I just need to start doing some cardio at the
gym. I’m warning you though, the men in your life will be drooling over the
cute girls Katrina and Karena in he videos. They also just started airing the
show <a href="http://www.bravotv.com/toned-up">Toned Up</a> on Bravo which is a
hilarious behind the scenes look of what they do on a daily bases. Watching the
show made me love these girls even more as they are just so goofy and their
quirky personality truly shows. So in case you are having a hard time getting motivated to keep your new year resolutions, check out these videos and get toned up!</span><br />

<br />
I was at Target a few weeks ago just perusing the aisles like I love to do and oh my goodness they have some great pieces for your home at amazing prices! I couldn’t believe how good these pieces looked and they were matched with a low target price! Most the cool pieces I saw were small furniture pieces but we are maxed out on our space or I would be picking some of these beauties up! Keep on eye on Targets great home collections when you stop in the store or online.<br />

A new favorite drink of mine is the pomegranate mojito. I enjoyed making these for some friends over New Years Eve. I started with this <a href="http://www.food.com/recipe/pomegranate-mojito-179367" target="_blank">recipe</a> and then adapted it to my taste. I cut the sugar in half and it is still plenty sweet for me. Sometimes I add a few more mint leaves or more club soda. You will figure out what you like! Here is my modified recipe:<br />
<br />
1 tablespoon sugar<br />
1 tablespoon fresh squeezed lime juice<br />
12 mint leaves<br />
6 tablespoons white rum<br />
1/4 cup pomegranate juice<br />
1/2 cup club soda <br />
<br />
In a tall glass place the sugar, fresh squeezed lime juice and the mint leaves in the bottom. Use a muddler to mash up the mixture to release the flavors of the mint. Add the rum and pomegranate juice. I just used the bottled POM juice for mine. Fill the glass with lots of ice so you can keep this drink nice and cold. Top with club soda, I normally don’t measure this out and just do a little bit to fill it to the brim. Finish with a stir of the straw and sip away. <br />
<br />
For those who don’t like pomegranate juice, omit the juice but add a bit more sugar, up to an extra half of a tablespoon, depending on your preference.<br />

The rules, you must make it and it must be under $10. You bring the number of gifts for the number of people that will be there, so in the end you get around 8 gifts if there were 8 people there. We did this last year and it was so fun seeing everyone's creativity! If you are looking for some quick inexpensive gifts to make, here’s some inspiration! </p> <p> </p> <p>1. <br />
I got invited to a pinterest party last week and we made the cutest ornament wreaths! The host picked up all the supplies, had delicious drinks and snacks and even an adorable nail polish to take home. We didn't really follow specific instructions on how to make this wreath, we just figured it out and helped one another. You basically start with a foam wreath, remove the hanger type piece from the ornament and sort of dig the ornament top piece into the foam. Then you take hot glue and put it at that location on the wreath and apply the ornament and hold until the glue dries. It gets harder the fuller the wreath gets but you want to have your colors and textures evenly spaced, your ornaments positioned at different angles, and you want to create different layers using different sized ornaments. It was really fun because we had such a variety of ornaments to choose from and everyone created something different. We all agreed that they all looked amazing! It takes some time but it’s really easy to do!<br />

I picked up some supplies at the craft store and gathered some existing craft stuff I had and went to work. These gift tags add such a personal touch on your presents and look 10 times cooler than traditional tags. I used two kinds of washi tape, stamps, glitter snowflakes, blank gift tags, and bakers twine. That’s all you need! With the Christmas stamps I had, I was able to mix it up and create different looks on the back of the gift tags.</p> <p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-49aF4y2GqS4/Uqyzi0W5MZI/AAAAAAAABg0/aPmUJid9Kjo/s1600-h/edit-08341%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img title="SONY DSC" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="SONY DSC" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-wzf2uJnqm7I/Uqyzjuwj4II/AAAAAAAABg4/-ox383icuhk/edit-08341_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="588" height="408"></a></p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-LLaP26Qw3DA/UqyzkIVtNfI/AAAAAAAABhE/ljuHlH8J6AQ/s1600-h/edit-08334%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img title="SONY DSC" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="SONY DSC" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-Jq1Hxt214Eg/Uqyzkrw3ZwI/AAAAAAAABhI/pds6330zta4/edit-08334_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="588" height="413"></a></p> <p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/--vJwH2zM9OE/UqyzlL7U9ZI/AAAAAAAABhQ/3U0gl963ZVM/s1600-h/edit-08352%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img title="SONY DSC" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="SONY DSC" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-tzljv7s2UqY/UqyzljXttKI/AAAAAAAABhY/l5RYOtIpiwM/edit-08352_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="589" height="414"></a></p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-kg95LhT5x_k/UqyzmCtpnkI/AAAAAAAABhg/pP6RTJbJ7dk/s1600-h/edit-08350%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img title="SONY DSC" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="SONY DSC" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-LLw_0wUV29U/UqyzmrVZajI/AAAAAAAABho/ll_-FhCUfPA/edit-08350_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="594" height="417"></a></p> <p> </p> <p>Stay tuned for the gift tag round up I will be posting soon! </p> Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00542929381587699756noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8952104035867119092.post-18308604719480777252013-12-11T17:30:00.000-08:002013-12-11T17:30:00.869-08:00Recipe Review: Crunchy Parmesan Ranch Chicken<br />

I just posted a recipe for the <a href="http://kristenjpeterson.blogspot.com/2013/11/recipe-review-crispy-chicken.html" target="_blank">Crispy Chicken</a> a few weeks back. I loved that recipe and have since found a similar one. I just made it and it is oh so delicious! Thanks to Erin from <a href="http://howtonestforless.com/2013/10/24/whats-cooking-flaky-ranch-chicken/" target="_blank">How to Nest for Less</a> for providing such a yummy recipe I found on Pinterest! It’s a very easy and quick recipe to make.<br />
<br />
<strong>INGREDIENTS:</strong> <br />
<ul>
<li>2 cups crushed cornflakes </li>
<li>3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese </li>
<li>1 packet dry Ranch dressing mix </li>
<li>1.5 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts </li>
<li>1/4 cup butter or margarine – melted</li>
</ul>
<strong>DIRECTIONS:</strong><br />Mix together crushed cornflakes, parmesan cheese and ranch powder package in a container large enough to put your chicken pieces in. <br />
Cut chicken breasts in strips (or chunks) and dip in butter. Then coat with parmesan cheese, ranch and cornflake mixture. Try to cover nearly all the surfaces. <br />
Either place chicken on a baking stone, or in a pan sprayed with olive or vegetable oil. If there are bare spots that the mixture hasn’t fully covered, you can always sprinkle another layer of the mixture on top. Depending on the size and thickness of your pieces, you will bake for 20- 30 minutes at 350 degrees. Just be sure the chicken is cooked through. <br />
I thought the chicken turned out amazing! I used fresh parmesan cheese which I think made it a bit too greasy. In the original recipe she used Kraft parmesan cheese which is pretty dry and powdering so I would suggest trying this type of parmesan cheese versus the shredded fresh cheese that is next to the cheddar shredded cheeses. I also think the greasiness could have been from dipping this in butter, next time I will use egg whites, much healthier! <br />

Stayed tuned for red later this month! Green can be a tricky color to do in a space as it is such a strong color so it has to be done right! Right now I’m loving emerald green, mint green and bright greens.</p> <p><img alt="who knew emerald green drapes could make a room look so good?" src="http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/6d/f7/22/6df7229c30261fbc4e0c9e589a8c3944.jpg"></p> <p><a href="http://erineverafter.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Erin Ever After</a></p> <p> </p> <p><img alt="17860b6e792d3b16066e7579ad4c46ea" src="http://sustainablesavoirfaire.files.wordpress.com/2013/03/17860b6e792d3b16066e7579ad4c46ea.jpg?w=398&h=592" width="543" height="794"></p> <p><a href="http://sustainablesavoirfaire.wordpress.com/2013/03/15/pantone-pick-emerald/" target="_blank">Sustainable Savoir-Faire</a></p> <p> </p> <p><img alt="National Gallery, Stuttgart, Germany." src="http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lylgw6aCT41qa5yk4o1_1280.jpg" width="549" height="730"></p> <p><a href="http://ninbra.tumblr.com/post/17247633177/national-gallery-stuttgart-germany" target="_blank">Ninbra</a></p> <p> </p> <p><img src="http://thelennoxx.zymichost.com/wp-content/uploads/2007ss31.jpg" width="557" height="619"></p> <p><a href="http://www.creamylife.com/interior-design/4297/colorinspiration-emerald-green.html" target="_blank">Creamy Life</a></p> <p> </p> <p><img alt="aqua and white striped bathroom" src="http://www.housebeautiful.com/cm/housebeautiful/images/7z/01-hbx-aqua-and-white-striped-bathroom-free-0612-lgn.jpg" width="562" height="745"></p> <p><a href="http://www.housebeautiful.com/decorating/ideas/unique-creative-bathroom-designs-1212?src=spr_TWITTER&spr_id=1451_5870174#slide-1" target="_blank">House Beautiful</a></p> <p> </p> <p><img src="http://www.desiretoinspire.net/storage/allpostphotos/May-Flooring-1-1joanna%20henderson.jpg?__SQUARESPACE_CACHEVERSION=1352140505444"></p> <p><a href="http://www.desiretoinspire.net/blog/2012/11/6/joanna-henderson.html" target="_blank">Desire to Inspire</a></p> <p> </p> <p><img alt="Aurea Residence by Chris Pardo Design: Elemental Architecture in architecture Category" src="http://1.design-milk.com/images/2013/07/Aurea-Residence-Chris-Pardo-Elemental-16-bathroom-600x399.jpg" width="570" height="385"></p> <p><a href="http://design-milk.com/aurea-residence-by-chris-pardo-design-elemental-architecture/" target="_blank">Design Milk</a></p> Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00542929381587699756noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8952104035867119092.post-80848594980688832222013-12-05T12:00:00.000-08:002013-12-05T22:58:32.987-08:00Christmas Printable Art<br />
I love that Pinterest has made it so easy to find printables! Every holiday or season I find a printable I love, trim to size and put in my white picture frame. It is the easiest and cheapest way to add some fun décor to your house. I already had a canvas, craft glue, a pencil, a paintbrush and cardstock. I stopped by Michaels and picked up some gold glitter and got to work. I found a deer image by Googling deer silhouette, then printed it out on some cardstock. I cut out the deer image and lightly traced it onto my canvas. I then used some “glitter glue” that came with a set I had to cover the entire area of the deer. Unfortunately there wasn’t quite enough, I should have added more craft glue but instead I applied the glitter. I was sadly disappointed when awhile later I took the glitter off and I had all these empty spots. My biggest suggestion is to thoroughly cover the area with an even coat of glue. I continued adding glue to the empty spots and applying more glitter. I had to go through this several times and then my lovely boyfriend decided he wanted to help and add eyes and a mouth to it. Really?! This just caused nice clumps on it. Finally I applied a thorough and even coat of glue to the entire thing and coated it with glitter. I let the glitter sit in place for awhile to really get adhered. When I finally shook the glitter off I had my complete gold glitter deer art work. It turned out to take way longer than it should have but I love the result! </p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-6-SjnK7SyWw/Uplxk8-DAII/AAAAAAAABeQ/ZR1seG2ABpc/s1600-h/edit-08314%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img title="SONY DSC" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="SONY DSC" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-fsz-3yamZT8/UplxlQ2pH_I/AAAAAAAABeY/kvr3P1nrwtc/edit-08314_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="466" height="324"></a></p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-o0Zam3K-Hro/Uplxlus28gI/AAAAAAAABeg/VcPKhV5c_nY/s1600-h/edit-08315-2%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img title="SONY DSC" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="SONY DSC" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-wM1o9qr51LM/UplxmIIcLcI/AAAAAAAABeo/0CQA3Cp_uEw/edit-08315-2_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="464" height="470"></a></p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-1vrltgeOMEk/UplxmxPB5qI/AAAAAAAABe0/2NmO_nBh9Mw/s1600-h/edit-08322%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img title="SONY DSC" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="SONY DSC" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-SxMK6NmcMUA/Uplxndwxp7I/AAAAAAAABe4/frQHFWxYTPQ/edit-08322_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="464" height="322"></a></p> <p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-WC6UCnFj90U/Uplxn-5edGI/AAAAAAAABfE/ejyAWqBvoEY/s1600-h/edit-08449%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img title="SONY DSC" style="border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px" border="0" alt="SONY DSC" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-Y5aN71NXIOg/UplxoWsiBpI/AAAAAAAABfI/kX2cq6weM6k/edit-08449_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="465" height="328"></a></p> <p>I think this project would be pretty cute to do with any silhouette. If you wanted to create a holiday one you could do an ornament, tree, snowflakes, gifts, a bow, etc. Have fun crafting and glittering! </p> <p>PS Glitter has been banned from the house now after this project!</p> Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00542929381587699756noreply@blogger.com0
